Feminine Health and Bacterial Vaginosis

Maintaining feminine health is the key avoiding bacterial vaginosis, or “BV” and yeast infection. While it might seem like common sense, studies show that good feminine health is not only the yeast infection remedy, but essential in preventing it in the first place. BV, as with any bacterial infection, won’t thrive as well in areas that are kept clean and dry.

It may come as a surprise to some people, but for many women nowadays maintaining good hygiene can sometimes take a back seat to the hustle and bustle of “modern” life. When you are a single mom, juggling a career in one hand, and the needs of children in the other hand, time becomes a very scarce and precious commodity. Many women spend a great deal of their limited time getting themselves together in the morning in terms of dressing, makeup, etc. There is often little time in the rest of the day to go back through their morning rituals, so a simple change of skirt or slacks and blouse can take the place of a shower and change of clothing.

As a result, the bacteria that is universally present gets the time, and ideal environment to grow. Undergarments in particular can remain warm and slightly damp from natural sweating or slight vaginal leakage. By not taking the time to shower and change clothes, anything that can will begin growing.

Candida Albicans, the bacteria responsible for yeast infections, like nothing better than this type of environment to grow. Think of a mini hot house on a microscopic level. Under the proper conditions, bacteria like Candida can multiply very rapidly.

Given the hectic pace some women live, this can become commonplace. Once “prepped” in the morning, it’s a rush off to get the kids ready, dressing them, maybe preparing their lunches, and then it’s quickly off to the job. Compounding matters even more, some jobs entail sitting for long hours at a desk, perhaps in front of a computer, or worse being on your feet all day. From work, perhaps another dash to pick up the kids, get home, scramble to prepare dinner, wash dishes and clean up afterward, and try to get them washed up, changed, and ready for bed. By the time you’re finished, it’s been a long, long day, with little or no time to attend to yourself.

Conversely, frequent washing and changing into fresh, clean clothes, particularly undergarments such as panties, panty hose, and the like, are one of the most effective yeast infection home remedies and defenses. Make it a point to find the time to look after yourself. Not only will you feel better – fresher, cleaner, more energized – but you’ll be taking a big step toward maintaining good feminine health and avoiding bacterial vaginosis and hopefully succumbing to a yeast infection!
